Meeting called to order at 2 PM on June 21st, 2023, by Gary Rutherford.
A motion was made to approve the December 21 minutes by John Kimbrough, and seconded by Eva Casey, and approved unanimously.
There was discussion about the vacancy on the executive committee. Sky Gross was nominated by Tamra Mason, seconded by David
Archibeque and approved unanimously.
There was discussion regarding switching the website to a Google-based site on abqpickleball.org. A motion was made by John Kimbrough
and seconded by Gary Rutherford to make any switch contingent on having another person trained on the Google site as a backup to Dale
Coffing. It was approved unanimously.
There was discussion on indoor venues opening times in the fall and how to increase the amount of venues available. The conclusion was
that the current coordinators would work with their venues where applicable: those that worked in schools would work with the executive
committee on getting approvals. To start more indoor venues, it was decided that an email should go out asking for volunteers to help run
the new possible venues (both schools and community centers) and given interest, the executive committee would work to obtain the
venues.
There was discussion to eliminate the Afterglow Tournament from the tournament list, due to too many tournaments in September and
October, both in New Mexico and in Albuquerque. Eva Casey made a motion to approve dropping the tournament and Michael Guidicissi
seconded it. The vote was 13 to 1 to drop that tournament.
Discussion regarding training that the ABQ Pickleball Club is doing for UNM Continuing Education. Given the high demand, UNM has asked
for more classes. The Club receives 60% of the revenue of the training through UNM. Mike Carrion made a motion, seconded by Michael
Guidicissi to have the instructors receive one-half of the profits in future classes.
There was discussion that an AED should be available at Manzano Mesa during the morning hours, as it is at Ventana Ranch. Tamra Mason
made a motion, seconded by Mike Carrion for the Club to purchase another AED and develop a committee to make it available at Manzano
Mesa.
There was a discussion about equipment needs. A lock box will be purchased for Ventana Ranch as well as more nets.
There was discussion regarding trash cleanup one day at Manzano Mesa. John Kimbrough will organize a Monday group.
Eva Casey made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by John Kimbrough. Meeting adjourned at 3:40 pm.
TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE MEETING was held on FRIDAY, MARCH 3
